Ben Rhydding 2 – 2 HDHC
The extended Christmas break showed in Huddersfield’s first game back. Ben Rhydding were a strong side but the game was there for the visiting side to take but it just wasn’t to be.
Ben Rhydding took the lead early on in the first half whilst the Dragons still seemed to be looking for their fire. However, Huddersfield broke back with a well taken goal by Michelle Dexter. Huddersfield seemed to settle and take back some of the control but it was Ben Rhydding who again took the lead by exposing the Huddersfield defence to put the ball in the back of the net.
A strong performance from Lisa Middleton in defence, which won her player of the match, seemed to settle the Dragons and they began to show periods of the hockey they played before Christmas. Helen Hough worked tirelessly down the right side of the pitch winning the team several short corners which they were unable to convert until Nikki Bagshaw put away a rebound to bring the scores level.
Despite their best efforts Huddersfield were unable to find the winner they so desperately needed in their pursuit of promotion.
Player of match – Lisa Middleton
