Bradford Uni 7 – 1 HDHC
The Dragons made the journey to Bradford University and got handed a lesson in scoring goals by a team sitting near the top of the table. If the game could have been judged on the first five minutes of each half then the Dragons had the potential to win this game at a canter. Unfortunately Bradford had other ideas and bagged two quick goals against the run of play and like far too many times this season heads began to drop and the fight went from some of the Dragons’ players. One player who couldn’t be accused of backing down was man of the match Simon Waterhouse who, despite taking a nasty knock to the hand, fought hard for his teammates until the final whistle.
Josh Dwyer grabbed a late consolation for the Dragons, deflecting the ball over the keeper from a Luke Kelly strike, however the damage had been done by the Bradford short corner drag flicker.
The Dragons face Bradford University again on Saturday with a full squad and intending to reverse that scoreline to Huddersfield’s favour.
Man of match – Si Waterhouse
Fool of day – Chris Abbey
Goal(s) – Dwyer
