Bingley Bees 2 – 1 HDHC
Top of the table Bingley were forced down into their half for the first 15mins struggling to get out, with Huddersfield pressing hard playing an excellent passing game with Mike Pogson and Carl Bland pulling the strings in the middle. A lucky break saw the bees sting the Dragons with a quick shot from the top of the D. Paul ‘Butch’ Kullar put both body and face on the line as he took a nasty blow to the left eye, it looked like a visit to A & E was essential but decided a quick wash down in the changing rooms would suffice. (Shame he didn’t have a steak on hand to keep down the swelling and reduce the inevitable bruising). The Dragons kept strong but didn’t quite get the equalizer before the half.
The second half saw several short corners with keeper John Donovan making a pad save and then clearing it with his other pad mid air to the side line, a man of the match kind of move. But Bingley pressed and found a second. The Dragons finally got a well earned goal with Gary Clarke taking it one on one with the keeper and side netting it. We continued to press to the end for an equaliser but at times it had seemed we would never score.
Other good performances included some impressive moves up the right between Ashley Cooke and Justin Whittle.
