Mens 4XI (H) Rotherham 05/12/2009

HDHC 1 – 4 Rotherham

The game started evenly for both sides with the Dragons looking to build the ball upfield whilst Rotherham took the direct approach, hoping for a mistake from the Dragons defense.  Unfortunately that mistake came 20 minutes into the first half when the Rotherham winger found himself 1 on 1 with Bebb in goal.

Connell had a chance to draw level soon after, beating two defenders and the keeper before uncharacteristically putting the ball wide of the open goal.  Rotherham managed to pick up a soft goal just before the half when a shot was tipped in by the Dragons captain Flavin in the closet equivalent to an own goal you can get in Hockey.

Soon after the break Rotherham scored a controversial goal which typified the Drgaons luck on the day and seemed to take a lot of the fight out of the game.  Despite this Huddersfield got on the scoreboard during the midway through the half when Stolworthy neatly flicked the ball over the keeper.

Rotherham sealed their win with a fourth goal with ten minutes to go and left the Dragons in need of a result from their two games against Bradford University in the next two weeks.

Man of match – Sean Connell

Fool of day – Sean Connell

Goal(s) – Stolworthy

Man of the Match and Fool of the day, well i hoped to make an impression but that is a strange one. You will be please to know i have now joined a gym to get fit and been down this week. Unsure as to if that will help me or will just use the limited energy i have too early in the week.

Well the man of the match was for two men and the keeper you so masterfully beat to set yourself up, the fool of the day was for the open goal you missed when you’d done all that work!
