Ladies 1XI (A) University of Durham 05/12/2009

University of Durham 7 – 1 HDHC

It was disappointment again this week for the Dragons’ ladies 1s who were playing away at Durham Uni.  The top of the table team capitalized on the visiting side’s mistakes to rack up a score line that doesn’t reflect the effort and skill the Dragons brought to the game.

The Dragons held possession well in the first half, attacking and defending confidently but unfortunately conceding an unbelievable back line strike, a short corner and a break to make it 3-0 at half time.

Dragons kept passing intelligently and playing one of their strongest matches of the season but the well-bonded Durham team didn’t need to be told twice to turn any errors into goals and so four more followed in the second half, the Dragons only able to answer one from another well-worked short corner and a strike by Amanda Sowerby.

So a few sad faces coming off the pitch but the both sides certainly put in good performances. Gail Gerard was voted man of the match for her solid defending.

Player of match – Gail Gerard

Fool of day – Gail Gerard/Becky Durrans

Goal(s) – Sowerby
