Mens 4XI (A) Sheffield Hallam 28/11/2009

Sheffield Hallam 4 – 0 HDHC

One of those games where the scoreline doesn’t fully represent the game.  The Dragons travelled through the snow to get to Abbeydale to face the third place Sheffield Hallam 6th XI for an early start.

Both sides looked to get on the scoreboard early in the game, but it took until 15 minutes for the Dragons defense to be breached by a Hallam counter-attack.  This was quickly followed up with a disputable second goal for Hallam after one of their forwards kicked the ball into the ‘D’ before their centre-forward made a fine one handed finish.

Coming out of the break the Dragons were not out of the game and when the passing game clicked it fell to the Hallam keeper to pull off countless fine saves to deny the away side the goal they deserved.

Unfortunately Hallam were able to score two more goals to seal their win and to move into second in the league.  The Dragons maintain their 8th spot with two games in hand over their near rivals in the table who all lost over the weekend.  Good things will come for this young development side…

Man of match – Ash Kundi

Fool of day – Matty Gardner
