Leeds University 5 – 2 HDHC
Huddersfield travelled to Leeds in the pouring rain with a below strength team to face a well drilled Leeds University team but took the lead within a minute with a stunning – if fortunate – drilled miss-hit pass from the back line by Beaumont evading a wrong-footed goalkeeper. Leeds hit back with two goals, both coming from sloppy defensive work with Huddersfield failing to cope with a constantly hanging opposition forward and midfield line. Luke Kelly battled hard in the midfield and Aidan Blackburn was on hand to flick the ball in from a Penalty Corner after the initial Maddaford shot was well saved.
For twenty minutes of the second half Huddersfield battled well without creating many chances. Leeds made good use of their five substitutes to rotate constantly fresh players into the game against a tiring Huddersfield team with no one on their bench and despite some superb saves from the ever reliable , man of the match Bob McCallum in goal, Leeds scored three more times in the dying minutes to run out easy winners
Man of match – Bob McCallum
Fool of day –
Goal(s) – Beaumont, Blackburn
