HDHC 5 – 0 Sheff Uni Bankers
With only three points separating the first four teams, it was vital that Huddersfield continued their winning streak.
Huddersfield were spoilt for choice starting the game with no less than four substitutes. Within minutes it was evident that the dragons had the upper hand and that it was just a matter of time until the breakthrough came. It was Lee that started the rout, neatly deflecting the ball through the goalkeeper’s legs. Richardson was again on the score sheet, this time with a brace; the pick being a fantastic lob whilst going one on one with the Bankers keeper.
The dragons defence were kept honest throughout the game, Sheffield at times looking dangerous on the break but never really troubling Cowden in the Huddersfield net. Another two unanswered dragons goals followed, firstly Shimmel deflecting from a well worked penalty corner before Durrans completed the scoring with a crisp strike.
Sheffield, resigned to their loss upped the physicality of the game which lead to a spicy last ten minutes, Unfortunately it was the dragons whom received punishment, Elson being sin binned for what looked like an innocuous stick tackle.
Another victory keeps the dragons competitive in the league and with the festive season coming could the dragons soon find themselves sitting pretty at the top of the tree?
Man of match – Ben Lewis
Fool of day – James Austerberry
Goal(s) – Lee, Richardson(2), Shimmel, Durrans
