HDHC 2 – 5 Leeds
The positive feel of the previous week’s displays evaporated within the first minutes of this encounter at a wet and windy Lockwood Park, as a well organised Leeds team boasting several ex first team players took control of a lack-lustre Huddersfield thirds from the start. Some slick passing and good running off the ball pushed the Huddersfield midfield and attack into a defensive mindset from which they never really recovered. Despite an early short corner goal from Maddaford, against the run of play, Leeds were 2-1 up at half time.
As the visitors tired in the second half Huddersfield exerted far more pressure, forcing several short corners and free hits in the opposition 25, but converted only one chance, Sean Connell finishing a fluent move down the right. At the other end, Leeds scored three goals to run out easy winners, and leave Huddersfield facing two tricky up coming fixtures with a little more trepidation.
Man of match –
Fool of day –
Goal(s) – Maddaford, Connell
