Ben Rhydding 2 – 4 HDHC
Huddersfield took the trip to Ben Rhydding with no less than seven regular players missing from the line up. With their captain missing, the dragons turned to vice Wells to lead them to another victory.
Once again Huddersfield started slowly, giving the game to their opponents who did not seem to leave the dragons half for the first ten minutes which finished with the home side taking the lead. This shook the dragons, and re-lit the fire in their bellies, who fought back scoring two quick goals both coming from penalty corners. 2-1 soon became 3-1 when debutant Kullar latched on to a loose ball and calmly finished from five yards.
In the second half Rhydding grabbed their second of the evening, only for Richardson to put the game beyond them after a well executed aerial by captain and man of the match Ben Wells. A good result was slightly dampened by Shimmel receiving his marching orders for not retreating from a free hit.
The dragons came through what could have been a tricky tie and with a full compliment available for selection next weekend they seem to be spoilt for choice.
Man of match – Ben Wells
Fool of day – Ed Shimmel
Goal(s) – Richardson(2), Kullar(2)
