Mens 5XI (H) Acomb 31/10/2009

HDHC 1 – 2 Acomb

A disappointing result as it was Huddersfield 5ths first loss of the season against bottom of the table Acomb, who appear to have a somewhat bolstered team! Huddersfield were very good for large parts of the game scoring after prolonged pressure when Andy Swindells tapped the ball in at the post to lead 1-0 at half time.

Good passing between Dragons players saw them win 12 short corners over the two halves but they were unable to find the back of the net on any of them. Opportunities for Gary Clarke and Ali Chaman were denied by a strong Acomb keeper. The Dragons defence played well but it was one of those days where one goal was not enough and in the last 15 minutes Acomb pressed and managed to score, and with Dragons beginning to feel the increased pressure Acomb somehow managed to smuggle the ball over the line for the winner. Disbelief at the final whistle as Huddersfield had created so many chances but came away with no points.

Man of match –

Fool of day –

Goal(s) – Swindells
