Doncaster 0 – 4 HDHC
Having watched the 1st XI get off the best possible start against their Doncaster opposition in the previous match, Huddersfield 3rds were anxious to put the disappointing result of last week behind them.
Captain Craig Hindmarsh returned to the starting line-up as did Sean Connell to lead the attack. The changes certainly made a difference as Huddersfield, playing more as a team and bossing the midfield, were able to put pressure on an ageing, but competitive Doncaster outfit, from the start. Lee Maddaford opened the scoring with a trademark short corner and Brett Kullar made it two shortly afterwards. With Johnny Beaumont and Jacob Barker interchanging passes down the right Huddersfield were threatened only by the occasional break away attack, with Bob McCallum in goal producing some fine saves at the top of the āDā. Despite being reduced to 9 players for a period of the second half by the Doncaster umpires the 3rds continued to create chances, Sean Connell missing two opportunities he would normally have put away. Kullar netted a goal that squirted in off the keeper 10 minutes from time and Huddersfield wrapped up a fine team performance with a goal from the last play of the game.
