Mens 3XI (H) Normandy Park 19/09/2009

HDHC 2 – 8 Normandy Park

Huddersfield came up against a strong, enthusiastic and well organised Normandy Park team for their first fixture of the new league season, and ended up well beaten. The home team started slowly, failing to clear from defence, and committing far too many basic errors, giving what little possession they achieved back to an aggressive opposition. Within 10 minutes Huddersfield were 3-0 down to some well taken goals, the pick being a drag flick from a short corner. McCallum pulled off a string of good saves keeping Huddersfield in the game, and a change in midfield saw them battle back with a brace of goals from Brett Kullar, the second after a great individual run from Johnny Beaumont. The recovery did not last into the second half as Normandy Park pushed forward scoring four more goals, as Huddersfield struggled for fitness, possession and occasionally an understanding of the new rule changes. The team will need to reorganise and play more as a unit than individuals if they are to be promotion hopefuls this season.

Goal(s) – Kullar 2
